A wax encaustic portrait of a young woman, painted on a wood panel.
The colours, although faded, shows a pale neck and face, lips which were probably pink and globular earrings known as Pompeii.
The portrait has cracked with pieces missing at the top and bottom. The wood has also distorted and is attached by resin with a large patch of linen at the back.
